Name: Randall Flagg
Door: Door Pass

Canon: The Stand (Note: He's also a major character in The Dark Tower and Eyes of the Dragon, as well as having other appearances throughout the Stephen King 'verse, but The Stand is his most prominent role. I have his canon point set after his 'final' canon death, which is in The Dark Tower, so I can change the canon to The Dark Tower or Stephen King Multiverse if you'd prefer.)
Canon Point: After his death in Dark Tower VII.

Age: 1500+
Appearance: Here

History: Wiki Link
Personality:
  • + CHARISMATIC: There are not many positive words that could be used to describe Randall Flagg, but he does have a particular talent for charm and persuasion. He can be rude and uncouth at times (especially when he’s angered), but when he wants to be charming he’s the kind of guy that could sell a rusty old beater of a car like it was a brand new BMW. Despite his impressive array of magical abilities, his charm is his first resource and everything else is just a backup if that fails. He's very skilled at drawing people to his side and convincing them to do what he wants, to the extent that he can charm others into doing things that are obviously dangerous or otherwise against their self-interest. He's also apt at inspiring loyalty and devotion in the people he wants it from, sometimes to a fanatical extent. He sows seeds of doubt between close friends and family members. He convinces others that someone else is out to get them. He’ll make a King’s subjects wonder if their beloved leader isn’t perhaps just a little incompetent. He can turn a bar fight into an all-out bloodbath with just a few words whispered into someone’s ear. He’s fully capable of doing his own dirty work, but if he can get other people to do it for him, all the better.

  • + CLEVER: Although his effectiveness in this area tends to be limited by his ability to keep his composure, he is well-read and old enough to have a large base of knowledge to work from, and clever enough that he always seems to be a few steps ahead of the game. He was able to create a functioning society with power and weaponry in a very short period of time after a near-complete apocalypse took place, and has consistently been able to trick his long-term nemesis into doing what he wants.

  • + PERSISTENT: When he wants something, he doesn't give up. Even if he dies multiple times. Even if it's been centuries and any reasonable person would have moved on by now. If someone humiliated him in some minor way hundreds of years ago, he'll still be trying to screw them up today. Okay, this trait might not be entirely positive, but at least he sticks to his goals.

  • - DESTRUCTIVE: Flagg is defined by his ability to destroy. He wants to ruin your day. He wants to ruin your life. He wants to drive you mad. He wants to make society collapse. He wants to destroy worlds. He wants to grab the fabric of the universe and tear it to shreds. He wants to break all rules set by anyone but himself. He wants to go up to some kid's sandcastle and kick it over just because he can. Whatever there is to wreck, he'll wreck it, and while he's certainly a force to be reckoned with he harms himself plenty, too. He's compelled to destroy in such a manner that he'll do so at personal cost, and he almost always ends up orchestrating his own downfall. He has occasional awareness of this fact but finds it extremely difficult to go against his nature.

  • - HATEFUL: He hates everyone and everything (literally everyone and everything; even the people he sort of likes he hates at least a little bit, it's complicated) and really loves how much he hates everyone and everything. He's constantly grinning about it.

  • - DECEITFUL: Nothing about Flagg is authentic, not even his appearance. He lies to get what he wants, and although he's a skilled liar when someone manages to see through his lies everything else that he is tends to come crashing down as well because he builds himself up into something far greater than he actually is.

  • - CRUEL: A good companion to his constant hatred, Flagg also enjoys inflicting pain on others, oppressing others, and generally making sure that everyone has a miserable time. If there are multiple paths he can take to reach his goal, he'll choose the path that causes the maximum amount of suffering. If he’s going to kill someone, he’ll kill them in the way that would hurt or frighten them most. He loves emotional pain just as much as he loves physical pain. One thing he really enjoys doing is exploiting the whole ‘be careful what you wish for’ trope: he’ll give someone something that they want only to make it come with tricks and drawbacks that aren’t immediately apparent, and takes great pleasure in seeing the other party’s wish go wrong.

  • - UNSTABLE: While he's able to maintain an eerie sense of calm when things are going his way, the moment he faces a real setback he snaps and lashes out and yells and breaks anything nearby that he can break.

  • - ARROGANT: Hubris is almost always Flagg’s downfall. When he starts tasting success, he also starts thinking of himself as unbeatable and infallible, a mindset that is only worsened by his tendency to gather loyal and unquestioning followers. In thinking so highly of himself, he can underestimate his enemies, and he’s died multiple times because of it. He can't stand to be humiliated or otherwise have his pride hurt, and will lash out against it or forsake bigger goals for petty revenge.

Powers and Abilities:
  • Transformation: He can change his appearance at will, and take on certain non-human traits such as sharper teeth or dark tendrils. He can also transform into animals (regular, non-mythical/magical animals that don't have any special abilities beyond the fact that he retains his intelligence).

  • Transmutation: He can transform objects into other objects of roughly the same size and weight. Limited to objects that can be reasonably held by a human, so nothing too big.

  • Telepathy: He is able to read the minds of others, and communicate with others telepathically. He can also hypnotize others to a limited extent by making direct eye contact, although he can't take complete control of their thoughts.

  • Telekinesis: He can levitate a few feet above the ground, move small objects, and unlock doors with his mind.

  • Dream-walking: Flagg is able to visit the dreams of others. In their dreams, he can warp reality and make them see disturbing things, but he can't cause actual physical damage.

  • Necromancy: He is able to revive the dead, to a certain extent. The body must not be dismembered or catastrophically wounded (a missing limb would be fine; decapitation or a shotgun wound to the chest would not). The revived person will still have any rot they accrued while dead, so if the body is too old it will still look and smell like a corpse.

  • Control Over Fire/Electricity: He is able to create and control small bursts of fire and electricity.

  • Control Over Animals: Flagg is able to control animals, usually animals associated with death or darkness such as crows, ravens, wolves, flies, and cockroaches. He will not be able to control mythical/magical animals or animals with human-level intelligence.

  • Immunity to Poison/Disease: Whatever sort of creature Flagg is, he can't get poisoned or sick.

  • Dimness: He is not able to make himself completely invisible, but he is able to go dim. Dimness is near-invisibility in which the person in question can pass by most people unnoticed, but can be seen by people who are actively looking for them, or people who have close relationships with them.

  • Third Eye: Flagg is able to see what's happening in other locations by focusing on what he wants to see. If his concentration is broken he will not be able to use this ability until he can completely focus on it again.

Inventory: Nothing but his clothes.
